Artificial intelligence startup Palabra AI raises $8.4 million with participation of Turkish investor

Canadian startup Palabra AI is an artificial intelligence startup that translates speech into other languages almost instantly. To further develop this technology, the startup raised $8.4 million in investment from Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian’s fund 776, Tripledot Studios founder Akın Babayiğit, Creator Ventures, Instacart co-founder Max Mullen, and other notable investors.

Palabra AI’s founders, Artem Kukharenko and Alexander Kabakov, say the platform supports over 30 languages, and translations are delivered in a natural human-like voice. Translations happen with a delay of only about 800 milliseconds, meaning your speech is converted into another language almost instantly.

The technology works on popular platforms like Google Meet, Zoom, Slack, Discord, and Microsoft Teams. In addition, with API and SDK support, other startups and companies can integrate this technology into their own products and services.

Regarding the investment, Akın Babayiğit said:
"Translating speech almost instantly is one of the hardest challenges in AI, but Palabra AI makes it simple and accessible. This investment allows the technology to develop further, and I’m thrilled to support the team."

Palabra AI will use this investment to improve its technology, expand its product portfolio, and strengthen its leadership in the global market.
