Azerbaijan has achieved a historical indicator in the prestigious international ranking

For the first time, Azerbaijan entered the group of countries with the highest index in the UN e-government development rating.
During the press conference on the UN Electronic Government Development Index (EGDI) held on September 17, 2024, it was announced that Azerbaijan has made significant progress in the direction of digital government development. So, compared to 2022, in the international report, our country advanced 9 places this year and rose to the 74th place among 193 countries. In the final indicator of the rating, Azerbaijan achieved a historical indicator by scoring 0.7607 points on a 1-point scale. Thus, for the first time, Azerbaijan entered the list of "Very High EGDI" countries, which is considered the highest category of the index.
The UN's E-Government Development Index is released every two years, and this report includes countries' indicators of digital government development. The indicators in the report released this year reflect the situation until May 2023.
Azerbaijan has made progress in each of the areas of online public services and telecommunications that reflect the evaluation criteria of the index. The report states that an increase of 21% was recorded in each of the indicators of online public services and telecommunication infrastructure of our country. Compared to previous years, Azerbaijan has achieved significant progress in the Electronic Participation Index (EPI) for the first time. The increase in this index was 28% and ensured that our country rose from the 98th place to the 88th place in the index.
The strengthening of Azerbaijan's position in the ranking has been significantly contributed to by the work carried out in the direction of the Digital Development Strategy in the last two years, including the coordinated activities of relevant state institutions, various digital government solutions created as a result of the exchange of experience with international experts, and initiatives such as the "Online Azerbaijan" project implemented nationwide. .
