The main goal of the competition is to make available the use of satellite images, including archival images of the "Azersky" satellite in Azerbaijan, and to accelerate the development of projects implemented with satellite images in the country.
As part of the announcement of this year's "Year of Solidarity for the Green World" in our country, the topic of the said competition is also dedicated to the application of space solutions in the fight against climate change. This, in turn, shows that the COP29 event, which will be hosted by Azerbaijan, is in the center of attention and that the values of "Green World" are being promoted in our country.
It should be noted that students aged 18-35, teachers, individual researchers, as well as researchers representing scientific-research institutes, state enterprises and the private sector can participate in the competition.
The participants will have the chance to visualize their ideas related to agriculture, ecology and environmental protection, monitoring of areas affected by drought and desertification, efficient use of water resources and sustainable energy sources, urban planning, and determination of tourism routes in their scientific work thanks to satellite images.
The first three winners of the competition will be awarded 5000 AZN for the first place, 3000 AZN for the second place and 1500 AZN for the third place. Participation in the competition is free of charge.
You can go to this link for more information about terms and conditions and registration. Registration will continue until May 31.
It should be noted that 27 out of 593 participants passed to the last year's final stage of the competition held since 2016. The winners of that competition studied topics such as assessing the dynamics of Azerbaijan's forest resources, studying the condition of agricultural plants, the ecology and dynamics of changes in lakes, and monitoring oil-contaminated land areas during oil production using images obtained from the "Azersky" satellite.
