X is preparing to launch a separate XChat application for the iOS platform. The official release of the new messenger is scheduled for April 17.
XChat will be part of the platform's ecosystem and will provide users with a wide range of opportunities for security and convenient communication. The main functions include end-to-end encryption of messages, protection from screenshots, as well as editing and deleting messages for all participants. Users will also be able to make voice and video calls between different devices, including in groups.
The new application will also have a disappearing message function and large group chats supporting hundreds of participants. One of the striking features of XChat is the absence of advertising, which can distinguish it from other messengers on the market. In addition, the application will also provide the ability to make audio and video calls without a phone number.
It should be noted that last summer Elon Musk confirmed the development of a new messaging system. The launch of XChat is considered part of the X platform's strategy to transform into a universal application combining social networks, messengers and other services.
