ETX removes over 3,000 driver's license photos from Instagram

As a result of the monitoring conducted by the Electronic Security Service (ESS) under the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, it was determined that individuals engaged in driving training on the social network “Instagram” openly shared the driving licenses of more than three thousand individuals for advertising purposes.
Since the dissemination of citizens' personal data in the mentioned cases increases the risk of their seizure and illegal use by third parties, the ESS addressed an official appeal to the administrators of the relevant pages. The appeal demanded the immediate deletion of driving licenses and the taking of necessary technical and organizational measures to prevent such cases from recurring. As a result, the deletion of illegally shared information was ensured.
The Electronic Security Service once again appeals to citizens and states that sharing personal data, including official documents such as driving licenses, on social networks poses a serious threat. Such information should be provided only to reliable and authorized institutions, and in case of violations of the law, the ESS should be immediately informed.
At the same time, individuals and enterprises organizing driving training are warned that sharing citizens' official documents on social networks is unacceptable and the requirements of the "Personal Data" legislation must be strictly adhered to.
