Fines are being determined for violations related to ensuring cybersecurity

New fines may be imposed on individuals and legal entities that violate the requirements of legislation in the field of cybersecurity in Azerbaijan. In this regard, a draft amendment to the Code of Administrative Offenses was discussed at a joint meeting of the Milli Majlis committees on Legal Policy and State Building, as well as Labor and Social Policy.

According to the draft, information infrastructure entities, Internet and host providers, as well as centers for combating computer incidents and security operations will be held liable for failure to fulfill their obligations related to cybersecurity. This includes failure to implement the instructions of the authorized body, failure to submit information on cyber attacks and incidents in a timely manner, failure to respond to requests within the established period, as well as failure to implement monitoring and initial technical intervention measures.

According to the proposed amendments, officials who violate these requirements will be fined from 500 to 1,000 manats, and legal entities from 1,000 to 2,000 manats.

In addition, fines are also envisaged for persons operating as a computer incident response center or security operations center without being included in the relevant state register. In this case, officials will pay a fine of 1,000-1,500 manats, and legal entities will pay a fine of 1,500-2,500 manats.
