"Bir" and "Paysend" launch real-time international transfers in Azerbaijan

Bir, the Caucasus’ first fully integrated e-commerce, banking and payments ecosystem, has launched real-time (instant) international money transfers for individual customers in Azerbaijan in partnership with UK-based global payments platform Paysend.

The partnership is implemented through Bir’s e-wallet application “m10” and allows users to send money to over 140 countries directly from their mobile phones.

This initiative expands Bir’s cross-border instant payment capabilities, making international transfers faster, more transparent and more convenient. The service opens up new opportunities, especially for users who want to send money to family living outside the country, cover their expenses abroad and simplify financial transactions while traveling.

The launch of the service comes against the backdrop of growing demand for digital services in Azerbaijan, the largest country in the Caucasus by population. Consumers are increasingly preferring digital payments and “e-commerce” solutions.

Jalal Orujov, Head of Payments Business at Bir, said:

"International transfers are an important service area for users in Azerbaijan. By expanding Bir's cross-border payment capabilities within the framework of the partnership with Paysend, we are bringing the speed and simplicity of local transactions to international payments. This strengthens Bir's position as a rapidly growing financial ecosystem and contributes to the digital transformation of Azerbaijan, further strengthening the country's role as a strategic bridge between Europe and Asia. Faster, safer and more inclusive financial connections serve to form a more integrated regional digital economy."

Danny May, Head of Corporate Business at Paysend, noted:

"In order to succeed in a modern, interconnected economy, businesses need access to a reliable, flexible and global payment infrastructure. We are pleased to partner with Bir and support the expansion of international payment capabilities in more than 140 countries. Together, we are strengthening global financial connections by providing faster and more convenient money transfers for individual customers."

The partnership between Bir and Paysend allows users to make cross-border money transfers more conveniently and efficiently. The Bir ecosystem currently serves over 5 million users in Azerbaijan and contributes to the development of digital financial services in the country. The launch of instant international transfers via m10 is expected to further increase activity in the Bir ecosystem, as well as expand the use of complementary services such as daily banking services through Birbank and online shopping through Birmarket.
