French startup Norma has introduced an interesting device to combat smartphone addiction. When touched to an iPhone, the stainless steel NFC-disk temporarily blocks the user’s selected applications — especially social networks and games.
The company’s goal is to help users break the habit of constantly scrolling through social media, known as “doomscrolling.” The list of blocked applications and the time saved can be viewed through the Norma application. If a user loses the NFC-disk, the application can be used to perform an emergency unlock.
The device costs 60 euros. Android support is not yet available.
