Generation Z is turning to iPods out of exhaustion

Between January and October 2025, searches for the iPod Classic and iPod Nano increased by 25%. This was reported by Axios, citing Google Trends data.

According to experts, the main reason for the increase in interest is the widespread digital burnout among young people. Representatives of Generation Z have been surrounded by devices that constantly attract their attention almost all their lives. Smartphones have become the main source of this load through social networks, messengers and notifications.

Cal Newport, author of the book “Digital Minimalism”, notes that old technologies usually serve one purpose. This allows the user to focus on only one process — for example, listening to music — and calm the mind.

It is noted that for a long time now, some craftsmen have been engaged in modifying old players. They install Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and additional memory modules on the devices, adapting them to modern requirements. As a result, users are opting for smartphone-free trips, acquiring "custom" iPods equipped with personalized playlists.
