Google has launched a more affordable AI Plus plan in India, in an attempt to compete with OpenAI’s cheaper ChatGPT Go subscription. New users will pay ₹199 (about $2.21) per month for AI Plus for the first six months, and then ₹399 ($4.44) after that.
The AI Plus plan offers users higher limits on Gemini 3 Pro and Nano Banana Pro, video generation in Gemini and Flow apps, expanded “deep research” in NotebookLM, and 200GB of cloud storage. Subscribers can also share these features with family members.
Previously, the cheapest AI package Google offered in India was AI Pro, which cost ₹1,950 per month. But Google was late to the price adjustment — the AI Plus plan was first launched in Indonesia in September. OpenAI, on the other hand, gained market share by launching its ChatGPT Go plan in India in August.
AI companies looking to reach a large user base in India are offering various promotions. Perplexity has partnered with Airtel to offer its Pro plan for free for one year. OpenAI has also made ChatGPT Go free for one year for existing and new users. Google has partnered with Reliance Jio to offer its AI Pro plan for free for 18 months.
