Grammarly acquires email app “Superhuman”

Grammarly, known for its AI-powered platform for written content, has announced the acquisition of email app Superhuman to power its productivity tools. Details of the deal were not disclosed. It appears to be a significant step forward in the AI ​​space, which is in the early stages of developing enterprise AI tools. 
Superhuman was founded in 2014 by Rahul Vohra, Vivek Sodera, and Conrad Irwin. The company has raised more than $114 million in funding from investors including a16z, IVP, and Tiger Global. The latest valuation, according to Traxcn, was $825 million.
Grammarly CEO Shishir Malhotra said of the deal:
“With Superhuman, we have the opportunity to reach millions of people,” he said.
Under the deal, Superhuman CEO Rahul Vohra and other analysts will join the Grammarly team.
Vohra said:
“Email is the primary email address for billions of people and is the number one use case for Grammarly users.
Superhuman has added features like AI-powered auto-replies and replacements in recent months. Grammarly is using this technology to build more powerful AI agents for email.
It’s worth noting that the product was acquired by Grammarly, Co. Coda co-founder Shishir Malhotra was named CEO of Grammarly in May.
In May of this year, Grammarly raised $1 billion in non-equity funding from General Catalyst. To pay back the investment, the company will return the proceeds from the data it owns to General Catalyst, but it won’t be given equity.
