President Ilham Aliyev has approved the amendments to the Law “On Information, Informatization and Information Protection”.

Article 13-2.3.6-1 has been added to the said law with the following content:

“13-2.3.6-1. information on actions that, when publicly displayed, insult public morality and openly express disrespect for society, that is, on voicing immoral expressions or making gestures that create the impression of such content, or on displaying parts of the human body in a manner contrary to moral norms and national and moral values;”.

Thus, according to the amendment, it is prohibited to share content that, when publicly published on websites and social networks, insult public morality and openly express disrespect for society. This includes immoral expressions, indecent gestures, as well as images that contradict national and moral values and moral norms.

The State Committee for Family, Women and Children's Affairs stated that this decision serves to protect the moral security of society, strengthen family values and form a healthy information environment:

"In particular, this change aims to prevent irresponsible behavior on social networks from becoming the norm. The adopted changes are aimed at protecting children and young people from harmful, aggressive and immoral content, and at shaping them on the basis of sound thinking, behavior and values.

The goal is to ensure that the future generation grows up in an ethical, responsible and respectful social environment."
