Instagram becomes Snapchat

Instagram has begun testing a new photo-sharing app called “Instants” for users. The app, currently available in the Spanish and Italian markets, allows users to share photos with friends that can only be viewed once and are deleted after 24 hours.

“Instants” allow users to take a photo with a single tap and do not offer any editing functions. Photos can only be taken with the in-app camera, and uploading from the gallery is not possible. Although users can add text to photos, other changes are not allowed.

The new app focuses more on sharing real and unfiltered moments and is reminiscent of the concept of platforms such as Snapchat and BeReal.

The company says its goal is to provide users with a more comfortable and pressure-free way to communicate with their friends. “Instants” can be used both as a standalone app and within Instagram.

The app is being tested on iOS and Android platforms and may be introduced to a wider user audience in the future.
