Meta-owned Instagram has begun testing a new subscription model called Instagram Plus, Engadget and TechCrunch reported.
The service is currently being tested with limited users in Mexico, Japan, and the Philippines. The subscription fee varies by region: 39 pesos in Mexico, 319 yen in Japan, and 65 pesos in the Philippines, which is about $1-2.
The new Instagram Plus subscription offers users a number of additional features. These include anonymous viewing of Stories — meaning the author cannot see them, repeat viewing statistics, and unlimited creation of audience lists (such as “Close Friends”).
In addition, users will be able to extend the sharing period of Stories by an additional 24 hours, add animated reactions, and search for specific users in the list of viewers.
The company has not yet announced when this feature will be available globally.
