Rebellions, which develops artificial intelligence chips, received $400 million in investment

Rebellions, which has raised a total of $850 million, aims to make a strong entry into the US, the largest AI market.

South Korea-based AI chip startup Rebellions has raised $400 million in its latest pre-IPO round, raising a valuation of $2.34 billion. Led by Mirae Asset Financial Group and the Korea National Development Fund, the company's total investment has increased to $850 million.

Founded in 2020, Rebellions operates under a "fabless" model. After completing the design of the chips, the company outsources production to external partners. The main focus is on output chips used in the response phase of large language models.

The increase in commercial applications of artificial intelligence is increasing the importance of this technology and putting Rebellions in competition with Nvidia. The company's CEO Sunghyun Park said that the focus is now more on output infrastructure.

As part of its global expansion, the startup has strengthened its operations in the US, Japan, Saudi Arabia and Taiwan. The company also introduced new AI infrastructure solutions called RebelRack and RebelPOD.

These products are designed for cloud providers, government agencies and telecom operators. Rebellions plans to increase market share at a time when giants such as Amazon, Meta and Google are manufacturing their own chips.
