With the update coming to Instagram, it will be possible to turn off the read mark on messages sent to users. Mark Zuckerberg and Adam Mosseri announced that they are working on this feature, taking into account user feedback.
It will be possible to turn off Instagram DM read by following these steps. Open your conversation with the person you're messaging. Tap on the profile name in the chat window to access the "Privacy & Security" menu, then go to the options after this step. In the "Who can see your activity" section, there will be a button to turn off read. This new feature will help Instagram users keep their DMs more private. However, there is no word yet on when Meta will roll out this feature to all users.
