Apple, long known for its stability in executive positions, has recently faced significant leadership changes. According to Bloomberg, the company’s Senior Vice President of Hardware Technologies, Johny Srouji, is considering stepping down in the near future. Sources report that he has already informed CEO Tim Cook about his intentions and noted that if he resigns, he plans to continue his career elsewhere.
Tim Cook, aiming to retain one of his key specialists, is offering Srouji a more substantial compensation package and additional responsibilities. One option under discussion is promoting him to the position of Chief Technology Officer (CTO). However, the agency notes that if this scenario materializes, the current Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering, John Ternus, may need to move into the role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
Although the 65-year-old Tim Cook is not expected to leave his post anytime soon, John Ternus is considered one of the most likely successors in the future.
The departures at Apple do not end there. In December 2025, the exits of John Giannandrea, head of AI strategy, and Alan Dye, head of interface design, were confirmed. Before that, Chief Operating Officer Jeff Williams, industrial design lead Evans Hankey, and several other executives responsible for the Siri project also left the company. Some departed for retirement, while others moved to different companies. Apple has declined to comment on the matter.
