Meta has launched a new AI-powered voice translation feature on Facebook and Instagram to help users reach wider audiences. The feature will be available in all countries where Meta AI is currently accessible.
The new tool preserves creators’ original voice tone and style when translating their videos into other languages, making the dubbed voice sound more natural. Additionally, a lip-sync option has been added to make the translation appear more realistic.
In the initial stage, the feature only supports two-way translation between English and Spanish, but more languages will be added over time. Facebook creators with at least 1,000 followers and all public Instagram accounts will be able to use this function.
To activate it, users can select “Translate your voice with Meta AI” before posting a reel. They can also preview the translation, enable or disable lip-sync before sharing.
Meta has also introduced a new metric for creators called “viewing language.” This indicator shows in which languages the content is most watched, helping creators better understand their audience.
In addition, Facebook creators can upload their own voices and add up to 20 different dubs. This allows them to reach not only English- and Spanish-speaking audiences but also other markets.
Meta says more languages will be supported in the future. Instagram head Adam Mosseri commented:
“We believe that there are countless creators whose potential audiences speak different languages. If these features help creators’ content overcome language and cultural barriers and reach more people, their follower count will also grow.”
Meta’s move coincides with the company’s ongoing restructuring in the AI field. The company is now developing its work across four main areas: research, superintelligence, products, and infrastructure.
