Meta and CEO Mark Zuckerberg are moving quickly in the field of artificial intelligence. The company is building a massive data center called Hyperion and, in the meantime, is using tents as temporary data centers in areas where construction is not yet complete.
According to reports by SemiAnalysis and Business Insider, Meta is taking this step to rapidly boost its AI computing power. The temporary data centers are equipped with prefabricated power and cooling systems. Without diesel generators or other backup systems, the main goal is to get the technology up and running as quickly as possible.
This move is part of Meta’s strategy to catch up with AI competitors such as OpenAI, xAI, and Google. Mark Zuckerberg is determined to gain more computing power faster and is therefore not waiting for traditional construction timelines.
According to Meta spokesperson Ashley Gabriel, who spoke to TechCrunch, the Hyperion data center will be located in the state of Louisiana, USA, and is expected to reach a capacity of 2 gigawatts by 2030.
This approach shows that Meta is not willing to fall behind in the AI race and is taking rapid steps to strengthen its position in the field.
