Meta has launched a new independent platform called “Forum”. The company’s new application for Facebook groups is said to be a competitor to Reddit.
“Forum” allows users to log in with their existing Facebook accounts. When logging in to the platform, the user’s groups, profile and previous activity are automatically transferred to the application. Here, it is also possible to share with nicknames, just like on Facebook.
Meta presents the new platform as “a special space created for deeper discussions and real answers”. The application includes an “Ask” section powered by artificial intelligence. This function analyzes discussions in various groups and answers users’ questions. In addition, an AI assistant has been integrated into the application, which facilitates content moderation for group administrators.
The company said that posts made on “Forum” will continue to appear in Facebook groups, and the groups will continue to operate on the main platform.
Note that “Forum” is the second new application introduced by Meta in recent weeks. The company previously launched a new photo sharing application called “Instants”.
According to The Wall Street Journal, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg told employees in a meeting that they want to build more apps using the productivity gains brought by artificial intelligence. He said the company could be working on dozens of new apps in the future.
