Meta’s head of artificial intelligence, Yann LeCun, is seeking investment for a startup that has not yet officially launched. According to the Financial Times, he plans to raise €500 million at a valuation of €3 billion for the project called Advanced Machine Intelligence Labs.
More detailed information about the project is expected to be revealed in January 2026. LeCun, who will leave Meta at the end of 2025, aims to develop “superintelligent” systems in his new company that will operate across a wide range of fields, from robotics to transportation.
The startup’s core focus will be on so-called “world models.” This technology enables artificial intelligence to understand the physical laws of the real world, spatial properties, and dynamic processes.
Interestingly, Meta will not invest directly in the startup, but within the framework of a partnership it will provide access to its technological resources. The company explains this decision as part of a strategy to reduce costs and shift focus from fundamental research toward more commercially oriented products.
