Nokia is re-entering the smartphone market

HMD Global, which owns the right to develop and manufacture smartphones and phones under the Nokia brand, has announced global changes in its mobile division.

It will happen in several stages:

The devices will no longer be released under the Nokia brand.
Nokia.com will cease operations in early February. It will redirect the user to HMD.com.
Devices under the HMD and Nokia brands will be presented on this site.
In 2026, smartphones and phones under the Nokia brand will disappear completely.
By the way, it is in 2026 that HMD Global's rights to use the brand expire.

Will Nokia disappear completely? Nope. There are two companies that own the brand. That Finnish Nokia kept the telecommunications division and announced a change in the logo a year ago.

There is also HMD Global, a Finnish company with Chinese roots, which has acquired the rights to manufacture Nokia-branded smartphones and feature phones from Microsoft.

Future HMD smartphones will offer "pure Android" and more frequent OS updates. They are also expected to be cheaper. The presentation of the new brand will take place in the second half of the year.
