OpenAI Developing an AI-Powered Smartphone

OpenAI is working on a new pocket-sized device powered by artificial intelligence. To realize this project, the company has partnered with Luxshare, one of Apple’s key suppliers.

What sets this device apart is that it will be fundamentally different from a smartphone or computer. The product will function in direct connection with ChatGPT, placing AI at its core. With this, OpenAI aims to enter the market dominated by giants like Apple, Samsung, and Google with an entirely new product category.

In addition to Luxshare, which manufactures iPhones and AirPods, the project may also involve China’s Goertek, a company that produces components for the Apple Watch and HomePod. These collaborations demonstrate OpenAI’s ambition to stand out not only in software but also in hardware on an international level.

It should be noted that OpenAI took its first major step in this direction last year by acquiring io Products, a company founded by former Apple design chief Jony Ive, for $6.5 billion.

If successful, this project could mark the beginning of a completely new era in consumer electronics driven by artificial intelligence — a breakthrough for the tech world.
