OpenAI has officially announced the introduction of advertising on its ChatGPT platform. According to the company, this step is aimed at making advanced artificial intelligence tools accessible to a wider audience and reducing the financial barrier for users.
Ad blocks will begin testing in the United States in the coming weeks. They will be displayed at the bottom of ChatGPT's replies, when the content of the correspondence includes a relevant product or service.
Ads will be available to users of the free version and subscribers to the cheapest Go tariff. Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise tariffs will not have advertising.
OpenAI says that ads will not affect the objectivity of the AI's replies, sponsored content will be specially marked, and user data will not be transferred to advertisers. In addition, ads will not be shown to users under the age of 18, and sensitive topics such as political topics and mental health will be excluded.
OpenAI Vice President Fidji Simo said that in the future, ads on ChatGPT will be interactive and users will be able to directly engage with brands.
At the same time, the ChatGPT Go plan, which costs $8 per month, is now available in all countries where the service is available. This plan offers users extensive capabilities in terms of messaging, image creation, file uploads, and the “memory” function.
