Russia begins production of Starlink analogue

Serial production of the project, which is an analogue of the Russian Starlink satellite internet system, will begin in 2026. This was reported by the head of Roscosmos Dmitry Bakanov on Channel One. The news was reported by TASS.

According to Bakanov, the satellite is called Zorkiy. It will provide for the preparation of digital maps based on images taken from space. These maps will be used for the movement of unmanned aerial vehicles in the future.

“This year, serial production of this equipment will begin,” the head of Roscosmos said.

According to the plans, more than 300 satellites will be placed in orbit by 2027. Bakanov emphasized that the main goal is to provide connectivity to areas not covered by terrestrial communication networks.

The creation of the Russian analogue of Starlink is also being carried out by the company Bureau 1440. It is planned to allocate more than 400 billion rubles for the project.

In addition, Bureau 1440 is working with Rosaviatsia to provide access to broadband Internet on board aircraft. This project is expected to be implemented in 2027–2028.
