Billionaire Peter Thiel has sold all of his Nvidia shares, according to a recent regulatory filing.
Thiel’s investment fund Thiel Macro LLC sold 537,742 Nvidia shares in the third quarter, accounting for 40% of the fund’s portfolio. At the same time, the fund also sold 208,747 shares of its holdings in U.S. energy company Vista Corp.
As a result of these sales, Thiel Macro’s equity assets fell from $212 million to $74.4 million. Tesla currently holds the largest stake in the fund’s portfolio, with about 39%.
Nvidia became the world’s first $5 trillion company in October and its stock value has risen about 36% in the past year. Recently, concerns about an AI-based bubble have been on the agenda in technology stocks; for example, the $10 billion deal between Nvidia and OpenAI has attracted attention.
Peter Thiel is an early investor in Facebook and the founder of PayPal.
