Plain Raises $15M to Unify B2B Customer Communications

Large companies have moved away from using email and ticketing systems for customer support, turning to platforms like Slack, Microsoft Teams, and Discord. However, managing these platforms can become challenging due to the numerous channels involved. UK-based Plain claims to solve this issue. Its system consolidates these platforms into one, helping businesses communicate with their customers more effectively. In addition, Plain offers email and chat support, providing an alternative to traditional help desks like ZenDesk and Intercom.

Plain's CEO, Simon Rohrbach, says the platform is fast and simplifies the work of customer support teams. The startup has raised $15 million in funding led by Battery Ventures, with continued investment from Index Ventures and Connect Ventures. Part of this funding will be used to open its first U.S. office in San Francisco.

Plain's founders, Simon Rohrbach and Matt Vagni, previously worked at Deliveroo. Companies like Sanity, Laravel, Stytch, and Raycast use the platform.

In the U.S., it faces competition from companies like Thena and Pylon. Last year, Pylon raised $17 million, while Thena secured $7 million in investment.
