The head of the department, Yuri Borisov, made a number of statements regarding the plans for the near future of the country's aerospace industry in an interview with the "Pro Cosmos" portal.

  • By the end of 2024, "more than 40 launches" are planned. This means that the release frequency will at least double compared to last year and the year before;
  • The main tasks for this year are "implementation of the entire launch program" and damage removal. In 2023, the losses of the state corporation amounted to 15 billion rubles, which is 3 billion less than in 2022;
  • In 2028-2029, it is planned to renew the fleet of jet transport vehicles and "restore (Russia's) position in the sales services market";
  • The priority project is Amur-LNG with a multi-engine power plant powered by liquefied natural gas. A new launch pad for the prospective carrier is already being prepared at the Vostochny cosmodrome. For this, the experience of SpaceX is reported;
  • Roscosmos is also actively working on a new ultra-light launch vehicle with a reusable return stage (also fueled by LNG) that can be launched not only from spaceports. According to the head of the department, the first tests were "successful in principle";

The activity of BKS will be extended "as long as possible". In parallel, the Russian Orbital Station (ROS) is being prepared, but this time specific dates have not been announced. During the discussion, the name of Elon Musk was repeatedly mentioned. According to Borisov, sometimes construction in an open field is much cheaper than modernization of an existing enterprise, and such steps give innovative results. Roscosmos wants to follow this attractive path, "but the department now does not have the financial and economic capabilities that Musk had in the early 2000s."
