Google Chrome and Chromium-based browsers will soon have a new feature. Now video and audio files will not be loaded as soon as the page is opened, but only when the user reaches that part. This approach will save internet traffic and ensure that pages open faster.
The “lazy loading” technology in Chrome was previously applied only to images and iframes. The new approach also extends this system to media. Thus, invisible content will not be pre-loaded.
Currently, sites solve this using JavaScript, but this makes the page heavier and sometimes causes errors. The new feature works at the browser level and eliminates these problems.
According to information, the technology is already active in stable versions of Chromium and will soon be available in Chrome 148.
