On October 21-22, 2023, the Embassy of Sweden in Baku, KTH Royal Institute of Technology, the Swedish Institute and the Azerbaijani representative office of the "Women in Tech" organization organized TEKLA Training and Organized a dialogue event (TEKLA Workshop and Dialogue).
The main goal of the two-day event, which took place at the "Bilim Baku" center, the "INNOLAND" Incubation and Acceleration Center and the STEAM Innovation Center, is to attract more teenage girls to the field of STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) through a fun and creative platform.
During the training, the schoolgirls had the opportunity to meet the female experts of the "Bilim Baku" and STEAM Innovation Centers, learn about robots, coding and various methods of using technology.
In the second part of the event, a panel discussion was held with the participation of parents, female experts working in the field of technology, representatives of business, science, civil society and the media. Addressing the underrepresentation of women in the technology sector, panelists discussed ways to increase the participation and empowerment of more girls and women in the sector. It was noted that even though more girls are going to school around the world today, they are still significantly underrepresented in STEM fields, and we urgently need to close the gender gap and actively promote gender equality in STEM fields.
Swedish guest speaker Anahita Vazvan, CEO and founder of Vegan Delights Sweden, shared her experience of being a young business woman in the food sector and her thoughts on the role of technology in managing international customers and sales.
At the end of the event, certificates were distributed to schoolgirls.
