Telegram Launches ‘Nodes’ Project to Restructure App

Telegram has announced the “Telegram Nodes” project, which will completely restructure the app. This update is more than a minor feature—it will effectively create independent working spaces within the platform. To develop the visual design and user interface of this system, the company has launched the “Design Contest 2025.”

The new Nodes system will make Telegram operate more like platforms such as Discord and Slack. According to the concept, users will no longer need to see all their chats in a single list, as personal conversations will be completely separated from work or community activities. Each Node will function as a distinct virtual space, containing its own chats, voice rooms, and video conferencing sections. A dedicated side menu on the left of the app will allow quick navigation between these spaces.

A standout feature of the system is the ability to customize digital identity. Users will be able to assign different profile pictures, names, and biographies for each Node, separate from their main account. For example, a user could appear formal in a work-related Node, and entirely different in a friends’ group. Additionally, each Node will include an advanced admin panel and the ability to assign various user roles.

Participants in the contest are required to propose the most user-friendly interface designs for both iOS and Android platforms. The competition, with a total prize pool exceeding $50,000, will accept submissions until December 15, 2025. Winners will not only receive cash prizes but also have the opportunity to join Telegram’s design team.
