Twitch Fined More Than the Total Amount of Money in the World

The popular online platform Twitch, owned by Amazon, has decided to challenge in court the hefty fine imposed on former "League of Legends" player Kirill Malofeyev. This fine is based on a court ruling in Russia following the suspension of Malofeyev's account by Twitch in 2022.

According to the court decision, the fine increases by 100,000 rubles daily and doubles every week. Twitch argues that this escalating fine has grown to such a large amount that it now exceeds the total money supply in the world. The company emphasizes that the fine is entirely unjustified and lacks any proper justification.

Twitch has decided to contest the ruling in a U.S. court and block the fine imposed by Russia. The company argues that the decision not only violates Twitch’s user agreement but also international law. Furthermore, Twitch claims that it was not notified about the court session in 2022, preventing the company from presenting its side during the proceedings.
