The UK will ban artificial intelligence tools that create and distribute intimate images of minors for the first time in the world
The bill will be discussed in parliament.
The Guardian reports that the creation, distribution and possession of such tools can be punished with a prison sentence of up to five years. The BBC reports that those who keep instructions on how to use such neural networks can be sentenced to up to three years, and operators and moderators of sites where such images are published can be sentenced to up to ten years in prison.
Currently, under the laws of England and Wales, it is prohibited to possess, create and distribute child pornography. However, due to the increase in fake intimate images created by artificial intelligence, the legislation is planned to be tightened further.
In addition, it is planned to ban the creation of nude deepfake images of any age group without consent. Currently, the law only punishes the distribution of such images.
