WhatsApp has started offering account verification option via email
WhatsApp has rolled out a new account verification method that it has been testing with users in its beta program for some time now. Users will now be able to verify their accounts via email.

Users can now authenticate using email verification instead of SMS.

WhatsApp email account verification works as an alternative when users are in a location without mobile coverage and need to log in to their WhatsApp account. Users must select Profile - Account - Email to add an email address to their account. It is stated that the added e-mail address can only be seen by the account owner and will not be visible to other users.

Also, the email address is only used for account verification. On the other hand, WhatsApp is working on a feature that will allow users to use a username instead of a phone number.
