Chinese company Xpeng has unveiled a new generation of humanoid robots called Iron. Although the company did not disclose the full specifications of the device, TechNode reports that the robot is equipped with three Turing AI chips. These chips combine movement, vision and language capabilities into a single system.
The Iron model has “soft” synthetic skin, artificial muscles and a flexible spinal system. Xpeng says that it has become the first humanoid robot powered by a fully solid-state battery.
The company plans to start mass production of the Iron model in April 2026, but the price has not yet been announced.
Xpeng CEO He Xiaopeng noted during the presentation that customers will be able to customize the robot — it will be possible to determine its gender, body type and configuration.
This innovation is Xpeng’s attempt to take a more ambitious position in the artificial intelligence and robotics market in competition with competitors such as Tesla Optimus and Figure AI.
