As we fast-track the electric car era, many vehicles, from trucks to buses, are on the way to becoming electrified. One of them is a new school bus from GreenPower brand called Mega Beast. This fully electric school bus has a passenger capacity of 90 passengers.
Based on the concept of yellow American school buses, electric car company GreenPower has introduced a yellow school bus called Mega Beast. With a capacity of 90 passengers, this huge bus also has huge batteries.
With a 387kW battery and a range of nearly 300 miles (480 kilometers), the Mega Beast is currently the longest, most powerful and widest school bus, according to a statement by GreenPower. The Mega Beast, which uses a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack, is actually a development of the Beast model offered by GreenPower in recent years, which has a 197.3kW battery with a range of 140 miles (225 kilometers).
A diesel-powered school bus sells for about $100,000, while electric buses cost between $300,000 and $400,000. However, the maintenance costs of electric buses are quite low. The US Environmental Protection Agency also offers incentives to schools that want to do so.
