AI-generated IKEA ad goes viral: no cameras, no crew – just imagination and technology

A video shared on X (formerly Twitter) has quickly captured the attention of millions. The short clip resembles a professional advertisement for the global furniture brand IKEA—but what sets it apart is that it wasn’t filmed by a production team. Instead, it was created entirely using artificial intelligence through Google’s new video generation model, Veo 3.

The video opens with a static shot of a large IKEA-branded box. There’s no camera movement, no background music, and everything appears as if it’s filmed in real life. The box opens on its own, furniture parts slowly assemble, and within seconds, a fully furnished Scandinavian-style bedroom emerges. The storyline is minimal—but the visual quality, lighting, and realism are so high that it’s hard to tell it’s AI-generated.

The creator, known as @Salmaaboukarr, simply captioned the post: “An AI-generated video I made for an IKEA ad.” The result? Over one million views in a short span, along with thousands of likes, comments, and shares. Viewers were stunned, with many asking how such a lifelike video was possible.

Inspired by the viral success, other users began experimenting with the same model to create their own IKEA-style videos. Some even shared the specific prompts they used—like “keep the camera static,” “use only natural daylight,” and “make sure the IKEA logo is clearly visible.” These small instructions made a big difference in achieving a realistic and cinematic result.

Veo 3, Google’s cutting-edge AI video model, was launched recently and is already being dubbed “the future of advertising.” It doesn’t just turn text into moving images—it adds sound, motion dynamics, and even a cinematic feel. While still only available in select countries through paid subscriptions, users are allowed to generate up to 8 seconds of video per day.

This viral moment shows how AI is no longer reserved for tech giants and professionals. It’s now a powerful creative tool for everyday users, democratizing content creation. With just a prompt and a vivid imagination, anyone can now produce videos that rival big-budget ads.
