Apple removes Cal AI app from store for policy violations

Apple has briefly removed food tracking app Cal AI from the App Store for violating its rules. The app, owned by MyFitnessPal, was found to be using third-party payment systems in violation of App Store rules and was misleading users.

The app reportedly used a third-party service instead of Apple’s in-app purchase system and failed to provide users with this option. In addition, the app’s pricing and free trial features on its subscription page were designed to be confusing to users.

After being criticized for violating the rules, Cal AI fixed the issues and was reinstated on the App Store.

The incident shows that Apple continues to control payment policies on the platform, despite some relaxations following court rulings.
