The International Data Corporation (IDC) predicts that the global supply of personal computers (PC) will decrease by 13.8% to approximately 251.8 million units in 2023.
Last year, the market fell 16.6%, marking the second straight year of an unprecedented double-digit decline. However, this is likely to support a recovery in sales in 2024, the report said. Despite short-term challenges, IDC continues to expect market growth in 2024 (3.4%) and beyond.
In the third quarter, according to updated data, global personal computer shipments decreased by 7.2% year-on-year to 68.5 million units.
From 2023 to 2027, PC sales will grow at a compound annual growth rate of around 3.1%, IDC predicts.
