Google to build $15 billion data center in India

US technology giant Google is preparing to build a large-scale data center network in India. The company plans to start construction of a 1 gigawatt center in the state of Andhra Pradesh on April 28.

The total investment cost of the project is estimated at about $ 15 billion. This infrastructure, which will consist of three separate campuses, is planned to be put into operation in stages by July 2028.

The project is being implemented by Google's local subsidiary — Raiden Infotech India Private Limited. In this process, the company is cooperating with Adani Infra (India) Limited, which operates in the Indian infrastructure sector. At the same time, the land allocation for the project has been approved by the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation and submitted to Adani Infra.

According to the plans, the data center hub will also include submarine cable landings, cable reception stations and intra-city fiber-optic networks. This indicates that the project is of strategic importance not only for regional but also for global data traffic.

According to experts, this investment could not only strengthen India's digital infrastructure, but also turn the country into one of the region's major data center hubs.
