Harmonic, a startup co-founded by Vlad Tenev, CEO of Robinhood, has raised $120 million in its latest funding round. With this transaction, the startup—which has not yet generated commercial revenue—has reached a total valuation of $1.45 billion. This marks the company’s third major funding round in the past 14 months, bringing the total capital raised to $295 million.
The main goal of the project is to address one of the biggest shortcomings of current artificial intelligence systems: the risk of providing incorrect information or distorting facts. Harmonic’s Aristotle model works differently from others. Instead of delivering responses as plain text, it provides answers in a programming code format that can be mathematically verified for accuracy. This approach, known as “mathematical superintelligence,” helps prevent logical errors in the system.
The project has received support from prestigious investors such as Ribbit Capital, Sequoia, and Kleiner Perkins. The startup’s CEO, Tudor Achim, stated that the newly raised investment will primarily be directed toward the high computational resources required to develop the models. In the future, the company aims to apply this technology in industries where safety is critical, such as aviation, finance, and the automotive sector.
