Indonesia’s Ministry of Communications and Digital Affairs (Komdigi) has launched a new initiative to address the growing problem of gaming addiction in the country. According to research conducted by the ministry, in some samples, about 33-39 percent of high school students suffer from moderate or severe gaming addiction.
According to Minister Meutya Hafid, gaming addiction affects about 1.96-3 percent of the population globally, with the risk group mainly male adolescents and young adults.
To address the problem, Komdigi has launched a multi-platform confidential counseling service called DARA. The new platform aims to provide children and families with gaming addiction management and psychological support.
