Meta has acquired Limitless, a startup focused on developing AI-powered smart devices. The financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed.
A Meta representative confirmed the news, stating that integrating the Limitless team will significantly accelerate the company’s work on wearable AI technologies.
Founded in 2022 by Dan Siroker and Brett Bejcek, the startup was previously known as “Rewind.” After rebranding in 2024, the team introduced a special smart device built on neural network technology.
This wearable device, which can be attached to clothing, records daily conversations and meetings, then transcribes the audio and generates concise notes. At launch, the device was priced at $99.
Limitless has announced that after the acquisition by Meta, sales of the device will be discontinued. However, existing customers will continue to receive technical support for at least one year and will be able to use the service for free. The startup also allows users to delete all their data from the app at any time.
It should be noted that competition in this field is growing. In July, Amazon acquired “Bee,” a startup with similar technology. Meta, meanwhile, is developing its own “smart” glasses in partnership with the Ray-Ban brand.
