New Epstein documents released by the US Department of Justice (DOJ) reveal that Microsoft permanently banned the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein from its Xbox Live online gaming platform. The documents show that the decision was made on December 19, 2013.
An official notice sent by Microsoft to Epstein’s personal email address stated that his Xbox Live account had been permanently suspended. While the initial letter cited harassment, abuse and bullying of other users as the reason for the ban, a follow-up email later provided the main reason.
According to the notice, Microsoft began removing registered sex offenders from its online gaming platforms in 2012 as part of an initiative with the New York Attorney General’s Office. Jeffrey Epstein was also reportedly removed from Xbox Live for this reason. The decision was aimed at reducing risks, especially for children.
Jeffrey Epstein was officially registered as a sex offender after serving a prison sentence for a crime against a minor in 2009. Documents show that he created his Xbox Live account in 2012, and the ban was imposed about a year later. However, it is still unclear whether Epstein actively uses the platform.
