This chip will be more powerful than the H20 model that the company is currently allowed to sell and is based on the Blackwell architecture.
Last week, Donald Trump did not rule out the possibility that Nvidia could sell more advanced chips in the Chinese market, but approval from U.S. regulatory authorities is required. It remains uncertain whether this approval will be granted.
The new chip, temporarily named B30A, will feature a single-die design. While this design is simpler than the H20, it includes high-speed memory and Nvidia’s NVLink technology. Sources say Nvidia plans to deliver test samples to Chinese customers as early as next month.
In addition, Nvidia is also working on another China-specific chip called RTX6000D. This chip will be cheaper than the H20, with simpler technology and lower specifications. The goal is to comply with limits set by U.S. regulations.
Access to Nvidia chips for Chinese companies is also a sensitive issue amid U.S.-China trade tensions. Nvidia emphasizes that its chips carry no security risks and aims to maintain Chinese developers’ interest in its products so they do not fully switch to competitors like Huawei.
In short, Nvidia plans to offer China both more powerful and simplified AI chips to meet trade requirements while maintaining its market share.
