OpenAI has added Codex functionality to its ChatGPT mobile app. Now users can control an agent running on a Mac computer from their smartphone.
According to the company, Codex is available in “preview” mode on all tariff plans in the ChatGPT app for iOS, iPadOS and Android.
To integrate with a phone, the user must open Codex on a Mac and scan a QR code with the ChatGPT mobile app. After that, it will be possible to track active Codex sessions on the smartphone, switch models, send new commands and view the results of the agent.
OpenAI says that all files and account information remain on the Mac computer. Updates on tasks, screenshots, terminal outputs, test results and other information are sent to the phone.
The company noted that remote access support for Windows will be added later.
