According to Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, OpenAI is considering legal action because it has not received the expected benefits from its two-year partnership with Apple.
In 2024, the parties agreed to integrate ChatGPT into the Apple ecosystem. The goal was to provide users with a more functional artificial intelligence chatbot within iOS. ChatGPT could both generate responses and images, and sell subscriptions from within the application.
However, OpenAI believes that Apple has not sufficiently highlighted the ChatGPT integration. According to sources, users have mainly preferred OpenAI's separate application because they could not use the bot conveniently. This has reduced the company's expected revenue from subscriptions.
It is reported that OpenAI may also try to resolve the issue out of court before going to court. However, this is expected to happen after the ongoing legal process with Elon Musk.
