Telegram founder Pavel Durov has made a statement regarding the searches conducted at the offices of X (formerly Twitter) in Paris.
According to him, France is currently the only country in the world that is prosecuting social networks.
“The French police are currently searching the offices of X in Paris. France is the only country in the world that is prosecuting all social networks that give people a certain degree of freedom (Telegram, X, TikTok, etc.). Don’t be fooled: this is not a free country,” Pavel Durov said.
It should be noted that the Paris prosecutor’s office confirmed that searches were conducted at the offices of the X social network. The investigation is related to the investigation of the algorithmic activity of the platform.
It should be noted that the French authorities have previously taken measures against various social networks and messengers. Pavel Durov himself was detained at the Paris airport in August 2024 on charges related to Telegram’s activities.
Durov previously emphasized that Telegram is fighting against violations of the law, noting that the messenger is "not a platform for criminals" and cooperates with law enforcement agencies.
