Rotor Technologies launches R550X unmanned drone helicopter. This autonomous vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) aircraft is capable of carrying a payload of up to 550 kg and reaching a speed of 241 km per hour.
The R550X is billed as the largest unmanned civilian helicopter capable of flying at night and in low visibility conditions. This drone, which has powerful autonomous systems, stands out as a helicopter designed for various tasks. The company initially aims to use it for crop spraying and the agricultural industry, but it could also be used for cargo delivery, firefighting missions and other ground delivery missions. Rotor plans to obtain a Special Airworthiness Certificate to begin test flights of these aircraft and aims to begin commercial operations in 2024.
