Norwegian company 1X Technologies has started accepting pre-orders for its NEO, a humanoid home robot. The next-generation robot is controlled by artificial intelligence and can independently perform household chores.
The NEO robot is 1.68 meters tall and is offered in two versions — a direct purchase for $ 20,000 or a monthly subscription model for $ 499. The robot’s movement system is based on the Tendon Drive mechanism, which uses high-torque motors and a 3D-polymer shock-absorbing layer. In terms of design, NEO is presented in a waterproof suit, which increases safety when interacting with people.
The robot can lift loads of up to 24.95 kg, and the noise level is only 22 decibels. NEO is equipped with two 8-megapixel cameras, four 360-degree microphones and three speakers, which provide voice and visual communication capabilities.
The artificial intelligence system runs on the Nvidia Jetson Thor platform, and the robot remembers all dialogues. It has the ability to connect to the Internet to find answers to questions, as well as learn new skills with remote support from 1X experts.
Weighing 29.94 kg, NEO has 22 degrees of freedom of movement in its arms, which allows it to perform various household tasks automatically. Thanks to the 5G connection, the robot can work both indoors and outdoors (in dry conditions).
The built-in 0.75 kWh battery allows NEO to operate autonomously for up to 4 hours. When the power runs out, the robot automatically returns to the charging station.
It should be noted that information about the creation of NEO was first announced in February 2025, but at that time its technical specifications and release date were not known.
